South End Citizens Council and Dominicana Softball League Thanks Mayor Sarno for Continued Support

|   City News

South End Citizens Council President Leo Florian and Vice President Shane Milette stopped by to visit with Mayor Domenic J. Sarno today and to extend their thanks and appreciation to the Mayor from the South End Citizens Council and on behalf of the Dominicana Softball League. Both organizations wished to honor and acknowledge Mayor Sarno for his continued support of their respective organizations along with his leadership and stewardship of the city of Springfield.

The Dominicana Softball League kicked off their season this past weekend at Emerson Wight Park and presented Mayor Sarno with an award thanking and appreciating him for his continued support of their league and our community.  The South End Citizens Council presented Mayor Sarno with a special engraved pen and drawing of the historic and iconic Municipal Group buildings made up of Symphony Hall, the Campanile Clock Tower and City Hall.  These items were presented to Mayor Sarno to thank him for his unyielding support, hard work, dedication and commitment to our Springfield community.

Mayor Sarno states, “I want to thank Leo Florian and Shane Milette for stopping by and presenting me with these tokens of appreciation from two great and community driven organizations, our beloved South End Citizens Council and the vibrant and very successful Dominican Softball League.  Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to make the Dominican Softball Leagues first pitch this past weekend but as a former catcher that once wore the ‘tools of ignorance’, I fondly remember the good times we had last year kicking off their season at our Emerson Wight Park.  On behalf of the city of Springfield, I wish their entire organization and all of the players, coaches and families continued success and good luck on their upcoming season.  The special engraved pen is deeply appreciated by my friends at the South End Citizens Council.  I will immediately put this to good use, and use it to sign off on my letters, city contractors and other items that come across my desk.  I will also proudly hang this depiction of our Municipal Group in my office too.  Thank you to both organizations for these touching acknowledgements of appreciation and thank you for everything you do for our residents and our Springfield community.”
