Mayor Domenic J. Sarno joined with Michelle LaRocque, owner and curator for Outside The Box Gift Shop for the grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Outside the Box location at Tower Square here in downtown Springfield. Outside the Box is a gift shop specializing in unique, handmade, refinished, vintage, and eclectic items. Tower Square co-owner Dinesh Patel and Tower Square General Manager Sarah Smith also joined today along with many of the small business owners that have their items featured at Outside the Box.
Mayor Sarno states, “What a great shopping experience at Outside the Box Gift Shop today. As the sign outside the store warns ‘Sense of Humor Required.’ This beautiful shop, located on the ground level of Tower Square, was filled with unique and some very very funny gift items. Thank you to Outside the Box owner Michelle LaRocque for creating such an enjoyable experience here in our downtown Springfield and bringing together other small businesses. I remember shopping downtown and at Tower Square, the old ‘Baystate West’ in the height of the downtown shopping days and I am happy to see businesses and shoppers returning to downtowns throughout the country, including our Springfield Downtown.
